Books on the MOVE

The Brazosport College Library is embarking upon a massive housecleaning project. In Library terminology this process is called 'Weeding' - much like within the context of a garden. Removal of some items will create a healthy space for new growth.

Brazosport College is preparing for major renovations.  The BC Library's transformation will be a significant symbol of Brazosport College's mission to prepare students for the future.

Cleaning our library collection of underused and even outdated material is part of the process known as 'WEEDING'. Weeding can be difficult, as identifying what items are useful and which have expired their usefulness can be tricky.

An inventory and assessment of our printed books collection (mostly on the 2nd floor) has not occurred in years.  Significant technological advances in the methods by which information is created and accessed have occurred - especially regarding learning and education!

Thus, now is the ideal time for us to weed our collection.

REDUCE THE FOOTPRINT.

INCREASE THE COLLECTION.

This is the library's mantra as we approach the management and weeding of our collection. This includes decreasing the amount of printed books no longer as relevant to our course offerings and student needs; as well as increasing the volume of digital and electronic resources available to our growing number of distance and electronic learners.  We are highly energized as we approach a library re-design to take us into future decades.
