D - What Diversity means @ BC

Diversity: means understanding that each individual is unique and recognizing our individual differences.  These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation/expression, socio-economic status, age, physical & mental abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.

E - What Equity means @ BC

Equity: The value and appreciation of differences and creation of an environment grounded in the principles where all can thrive. Brazosport College commits to routinely scrutinize structural barriers to equity and invest in equity-minded policies, practices, and behaviors that lead to success for all.

I - What Inclusion means @ BC

Inclusion: Inclusion is the active, intentional, and ongoing engagement with diversity to create a collaborative, supportive, and respectful environment that increases the participation and contribution of all individuals. Inclusion removes barriers, discrimination, and intolerance so that everyone feels supported and a sense of belonging. Inclusion is involvement and empowerment, where the inherent worth and dignity of all people are recognized. An inclusive environment promotes and sustains a sense of belonging; it values and practices respect for the talents, beliefs, backgrounds, and ways of living of its members.
