BC Library Instructional Services: Recorded Instruction

What is "Recorded Instruction"?

Recorded Instruction: a librarian records a library instruction session that is accessed by students at their point of need. Recorded instruction sessions can be linked to in a LibGuide or within the course's D2L/ Virtual Campus module. Recorded instruction sessions work best for Online courses or where the instructor wants library instruction but does not have an opening for live library instruction.

How does "Recorded Instruction" work?

First off, faculty should complete a Library Instruction request form or contact Brent Cooper to review needs.  From this communication the librarian will produce a video following the expressed needs of the requesting faculty.  Considerations should include length (all in one video, numerous mini videos addressing specific content), content (researching an assignment, general library overview, MLA 8 citations), resources covered (finding books, specific databases, citing with RefWorks).  Once recorded, the library can send the url for faculty to post in D2L/ Virtual campus or the librarian can post in a course LibGuide.
