The Office of Disability Services

The Office of Disability Services provides and supports services for students with disabilities to remove obstacles from their education in order to promote their maximum academic potential, participation in the college experience, and self-sufficiency.

Based on the belief that all students should be assured equal access and opportunity, the Office of Disability Services strives to eliminate physical, instructional, and attitudinal barriers by providing reasonable accommodations and fostering awareness within the Brazosport College community.

Getting Started

Professors are not required to accommodate your disability if you have not provided and discussed your disability with the Disability Service Counselor, Phil Robertson in the Counseling and Testing Department.

Each semester students are responsible for registering and requesting accommodations with the Office of Disability Services. It is the students' responsibility for delivering the accommodation letters to each of their professors. It is best that you do this as early in the semester as possible so you have time to coordinate the arrangements of your accommodations with your professor.

Please Note: You should follow the "Returning Students" directions linked below if you have not enrolled in classes at Brazosport College for the past two semesters.

PLEASE NOTE: Remember that all communication will be through your BC email.

If you need additional assistance setting up your BC email or Student Account you may visit the IT department page or contact them via email at helpdesk@brazosport.edu or phone at 979-230-3266.

Communicating with your Professors

With the help from Temple University we have included five short videos that give you examples on how to introduce yourself to your professor and how to have an effective conversation about your accommodations.

Brazosport College operates under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) laws in order to assist in leveling the playing field for students who have disabilities. The amended ADA, otherwise known as ADAAA defines “disability” as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
